Overview

Zengcheng District is one of the 11 administrative districts under the jurisdiction of Guangzhou, covering an area of 1,616 square kilometers, with a permanent population of 1.69 million. Zengcheng serves as a crucial transportation hub, sci-tech innovation center, and growth engine for the advanced manufacturing industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area (GBA). 

Over the years, Zengcheng has made industrial development its top priority and focused on strengthening its manufacturing industry. Leveraging its superior location advantage, industrial base, business environment and major platforms such as the National Zengcheng Economic and Technological Development Zone and the Guangzhou Eastern Road-rail Intermodal Transport Hub, Zengcheng has introduced more than 700 industrial projects of various types, with a total planned investment of over RMB 500 billion and an estimated annual output value (revenue) of about RMB 900 billion. The GDP of Zengcheng District reached RMB 132.5 billion in 2022 and RMB 67.7 billion in the first half of 2023, representing an increase of 4% and 8.6% year-on-year, ranking the second and first place among Guangzhou’s 11 districts for GDP growth rate, and the economy is developing rapidly.

Zengcheng Economic and Technological Development Zone

The Zengcheng Economic and Technological Development Zone is one of the three national-level economic and technological development zones in Guangzhou and a major strategic development platform planned and built in this city. The entrusted managed area is 302 square kilometers and is managed as “one zone and multiple parks”. 

The Zengcheng Development Zone focuses on the real economy, and focuses on cultivating the chip industry, automotive industry and display industries. In 2022, the total industrial output of the Zengcheng Development Zone (including GAC Honda Zengcheng Factory) reached RMB 234.12 billion, an increase of 2.26%; investment in fixed assets was RMB 29.77 billion; and the total imports and exports stood at RMB 45.593 billion. The utilized foreign capital was 339 million US dollars, and 6,274 domestic companies were newly introduced, up by 50.93%.
