Taizhou City ranks first in terms of output value of the pharmaceutical industry among prefecture-level cities in China. It owns the largest pharmaceutical industry enterprise, Yangtze River Pharmaceutical Group, and has built the China's largest production base of Chinese patent medicines. The shipbuilding completion volume ranks No. 1, accounting for 1/10 of the world, 1/4 of the China, and 1/2 of Jiangsu Province. Taizhou is also the China's largest private shipbuilding base. Taizhou continues to make efforts to build three major manufacturing clusters of "biomedicine and new medical device industry, high-end equipment and high-tech ship industry, chemical industry and new material industry".

China Medical City (CMC)

CMC is located in Taizhou, an important city in the Yangtze River Delta. CMC covers 30 km2 according to its plan, consisting of functional zones of R&D, Manufacturing, Exhibition and Trade, Healthcare, Education and teaching, and Comprehensive Supporting area. As the first national level life science high-tech park, CMC is jointly built by the Ministry of Science and Technology, National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China, National Medical Products Administration, China Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Jiangsu Provincial Government.
