Caofeidian National Economic and Technological Development Zone
Caofeidian, located in the southern coastal area of Tangshan, Hebei Province, facing Northeast Asia, neighboring Beijing and Tianjin with total area of 2,114 km2, has been designated as “National Economic and Technological Development Zone”, “National Petrochemical Industry Base”, “Sino-Japan-Korea Circular Economy Demonstration Base”, “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development Demonstration Area”, etc. For consecutive years, it has been ranked among “China’s Top 100 Areas in terms of Comprehensive Strength”, “Top 100 Industrial Areas”, and “Top 100 Potential Investment Destinations”.
The Caofeidian port area can accommodate 412 berths. So far 100 productive berths have been built in place, and there are more than 110 domestic and international trade routes available to reach over 70 countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea, the UK and the US. In 2021, 448 million tons of cargoes have been handled through Caofeidian Port. Caofeidian is an important hub of the “Belt and Road” initiative. There are several China-Europe train routes from Caofeidian Port to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and other destinations.
Caofeidian enjoys benefits of multiple policies including “National Economic and Technological Development Zone + Comprehensive Bonded Zone + Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone + Free Trade Zone”, providing an end-to-end corporate service agency system. The area is home to many colleges, universities and vocational schools, from which nearly 30,000 students graduate every year as a large pool of R&D talents and highly competent industrial workers for enterprises.
CAOFEIDIAN NATIONAL ECONOMIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT ZONE
With an area of 225 km2, there are 8 specialized industrial parks in the zone such as the Sino-Japan Caofeidian Eco-Industrial Park, the Port Logistics Park, the Steel and Power Park, and the Equipment Manufacturing Park. The priorities of development are as follows: や fine steel and deep processing, e.g. ship and marine engineering steel, automotive sheet; ゅ green chemical industry, e.g. mid-stream and downstream operations of the petrochemical industry, special chemicals, fine auxiliaries; ゆ advanced manufacturing, e.g. power batteries, automobiles and new energy vehicles and parts, energy equipment, emergency equipment; ょ new energy and new materials, e.g. hydrogen production, LNG cold energy utilization, new materials of new energy batteries, new silicon materials; よ marine industry, e.g. marine engineering equipment, marine chemicals.
CAOFEIDIAN AREA OF CHINA (HEBEI) PILOT FREE TRADE ZONE
With a planned area of 33.48 km2, and holding port-related licenses for complete vehicles, meat, fruits, chilled food, grains, etc., it has been designated as a Cross-Border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Area, a Parallel Car Import Pilot Area, and a Used Car Export Pilot Area, and possesses the Caofeidian Index of China Coal Purchase Price and Iron Ore Price Index. The priorities of development are as follows: や port trade and logistics and international bulk commodity trade, including ore, steel, coal, grain and other bulk commodities; ゅ port and shipping services, e.g. shipping agency and freight forwarding, route operations, ship spare parts; ゆ energy storage, distribution and trading, including energy commercial storage, bonded oil delivery and storage, etc.; ょ high-end equipment manufacturing and remanufacturing such as import and re-manufacturing of large-sized complete equipment and components and re-manufacturing of five major automotive assemblies.
