Sino-German (Wuhu) SME Cooperation Zone

Sino-German (Wuhu) SME Cooperation Zone, approved by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in July 2016, is the first national-level Sino-German SME cooperation zone in central China, a specialized industrial park tailored to small and medium-sized enterprises from Germany and other European countries.

It has a total planned area of 82.3 km2, with a 4 km2 core area, covering parts of China (Anhui) Pilot Free Trade Zone Wuhu Area, National Robot and Intelligent Equipment Industry Base, and a national economic and technological development zone.

To date, 91 European enterprises have settled here, including 25 renowned German firms such as Bosch Group, Continental Group, Schaeffler and Benteler. Focusing mainly on automobile and components, intelligent manufacturing, high-end equipment manufacturing, and modern services, most of these enterprises adopt the cooperation models of "R&D center + local industrialization" and "production base + regional headquarters."

The zone provides full-range support for German enterprises: a full-time English & German bilingual team ensures barrier-free communication for overseas investors; a dedicated project coordination task force offers one-stop full-process agency services covering investment approval, environmental impact assessment, energy conservation assessment and project construction applications. It also rolls out industrial support policies for invested enterprises, including land supply incentives, R&D subsidies, and talent settlement benefits.

To advance industrial integration, the local government has transformed from a traditional regulator into a professional industrial organizer. It has built a mature "demand matching - pilot docking - order conversion" mechanism, linking settled enterprises with local leading firms like Chery Automobile and EFORT Intelligent Equipment, to help them integrate into the local core supply chain and secure stable business orders.

The Cooperation Zone boasts complete German-standard industrial supporting facilities, an advanced education system in partnership with German institutions, and comprehensive living amenities. By 2030, it strives to build the German SME Headquarters Cluster into a new industrial agglomeration highland, sci-tech innovation source, talent development demonstration zone, and open cooperation hub.
