Yangzhou High-tech Zone is located in the southwest of the main urban area of Yangzhou. It stands at the junction of the Yangtze River and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. Being the important gateway to the north bank of the Yangtze River, the Shanghai metropolitan area and the Nanjing economic circle overlap here. It is also the bridge connecting south and central Jiangsu. Yangzhou High-tech Zone covers a total planning area of 60 km² of which 30 km² have been developed. There are more than 4000 enterprises in total, 422 of them are national high-tech enterprises. Yangzhou High-tech Zone is the gathering place of China’s forging and pressing machine tools and grain, oil, food, and feed machinery, National Torch Plan Characteristic Industry Base, and National “CNC Machine Tool Manufacturing Base”. The intelligent equipment industry is one of the top ten high-tech industries in Jiangsu province, with a high market share. Forging and pressing machines occupy more than 30% of the national market share, and a number of high-tech products such as CNC laser cutting machines and CNC bending machines occupy more than 40% of the national market share. Yangzhou high-tech zone has many leading enterprises, such as Trumpf, Schuler, Schulz from German, Yangli Group, Famsun Group, Myande Group, and a number of well-known international and domestic enterprises. Yangzhou High-tech Zone has the complete industrial chain with more than 200 sets of machines and supporting enterprises.
Yangzhou High-tech Zone focuses on the development of the biological health industry, supported by the only biological health industrial park in Yangzhou. It has initially built a featured industrial park with strong concentration and competitiveness with “public R&D and incubation platform, biological pharmaceuticals, medical devices, reagents and vaccines, and health care products”. The scale of the industry has maintained an annual growth rate of more than 30%, and the products mainly involve innovative drugs and high-end generic drugs, animal vaccines, health products, medical devices and other fields. The semiconductor new material industry is an emerging industry that is part of the key layout and development of Yangzhou High-tech Zone. Its average annual growth rate exceeds 20%.
