OVERALL INTRODUCTION
China-Germany High-End Equipment Manufacturing Industry Park in Shenyang (or CGIP) is located within Shenyang Economic and Technological Development Area, Liaoning Province, with a planned area of 48 square kilometers. The park focuses on five pillar industries, namely advanced equipment, intelligent manufacturing, auto and auto parts, industrial services, and strategic emerging industries. In December 2015, the State Council officially approved the construction plan of CGIP, making it the first industrial park approved by the State Council with the theme of China-Germany equipment manufacturing cooperation.
THE CGEMIC PLATFORM
China-Germany High-end Equipment Manufacturing Innovation Committee (or CGEMIC) is a platform which is committed to promoting cooperation in technology, products, and talents between China and Germany. At present, there are over seventy members from companies and institutions of both countries. The Committee focuses on industrial internet, intelligent equipment, dual-vocational training education, and automobiles. Annual meetings are held separately in Berlin and Shenyang every year to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
FOREIGN-FUNDED ENTERPRISES
CGIP is an international park featuring openness and diversity. The park has gathered over a hundred foreign-funded enterprises, including BMW, Heraeus, Mubea, ZF, Benteler and so on. More than 400 high-quality projects such as the third plant of BMW Brilliance’s Automotive and Northern Biomedical Valley have been introduced, with a total investment of about CNY 150 billion.
CHINA-GERMANY ENTERPRISES INNOVATION INCUBATION CENTER
In the park, there is an incubator specifically designed and built for German start-ups, offering one-stop services to companies conducting business. Offices are provided for German SMEs, along with professional services such as corporate establishment, tax registration, financial advisory, subsidy policy consultation, intellectual property protection, and legal counsel.
SUPPORTING SERVICES
CGIP has established a factory-based cultivation and market-oriented education system, ensuring an annual supply of over 2,000 skilled workers. There is a German school recognized by the German Ministry of Education which follows the educational system of Germany. There is a hospital which is connected to the German medical insurance system to ensure the medical needs of foreign employees. A German International Community was constructed with authentic German-style stores and restaurants where people can buy genuine German products, taste German cuisine, and enjoy German beer. Annually, international cultural and sports exchanges, including symphony concerts, beer festivals, marathons, and football tournaments are organized to enhance cross-cultural exchanges. In recent years, CGIP has witnessed strong economic growth and continuous expansion of its industrial scale.
