Changshu National New & Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone (CNZ) is in the center of the Yangtze River Delta Economic Belt and was upgraded to a national-level high-tech zone in September 2015 with the approval from the State Council. CNZ covers an administrative area of 138km². It boasts the first national-level university science park among county-level cities in China and the only United World Colleges (UWC) in mainland China. In 2024, the regional GDP of CNZ reached CNY 51.13 billion.
Industry Foundation
CNZ is the main area for Changshu city’s economic development. The region focuses on developing pillar industries such as automotive core components, intelligent equipment manufacturing, new generation information technology, and modern service industries. It also actively plans emerging industries such as new energy, life and health, new materials, low-altitude economy, and artificial intelligence. Currently, there are thousands of enterprises from more than 20 countries and regions that have invested in CNZ, including 35 German enterprises such as Continental, Mahle, Heraeus, Karcher, Wieland etc. 58 projects were invested by 35 Fortune 500 companies such as Toyota, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Continental, Heraeus etc. 19 projects were invested by eleven global top 100 automotive suppliers and 56 first-tier automotive component suppliers such as Hilite, Kiekert, and Sumitomo etc. There are twelve hydrogen energy enterprises such as Toyota Hydrogen R&D, Refire, and Zhizhen etc. The CNZ Administrative Approval Bureau provides services such as investment approval, environmental protection approval, energy conservation evaluation, construction application, and other aspects for different projects. Many enterprises have been attracted by good policy and stable investment conditions to increase capital and expand production in CNZ. In 2024, the total output value of industries above designated scale was CNY 127.79 billion, an increase of 2.3%, of which the output value of the automotive industry above designated scale was CNY 56.71 billion, accounting for 44.4% of the total output.
Living Facilities
Focusing on the integrated development of industry, city, and people, we have arranged supportive facilities such as industrial innovation parks, schools, hospitals, accommodations, commercial complexes, and sports facilities. The area boasts high-end industrial innovation parks such as UWC+ Innovation Island, Kuncheng Science and Technology Innovation Port, and Low-Carbon Digital Industrial Park. It also features premium educational resources like the United World Colleges (UWC), CWA Shihua School, Suzhou Institute of Technology, and Lunhua Foreign Language School. Additionally, there are global medical institutions like Hygeia Hospital and Sing Health Medical Clinic, as well as five-star hotels including Nikko, Hyatt, and Hilton Hotel. High-end residential and commercial facilities have been built, such as the Jinmao Smart Science City Commercial Center, Aranya Community, and the landmark commercial complex Aeon Mall. Furthermore, more tourism and sport events are organized in CNZ, such as the Shajiabang 5A-level tourist resort, Kuncheng Lake Sailing Regatta, and the “Little World Cup” football league. The city’s functions are becoming more comprehensive, and its quality is becoming more refined.
