Greater China Xceleration Days 2019
The first Greater China Xceleration Days has been successfully held from December 3rd to 5th, 2019, in Shenzhen City, China.
The success of Sino-German business relations is a matter close to our hearts. With the Greater China Xceleration Days, we have brought the biggest Sino-German event of the year to Shenzhen. The global AHK network has been building bridges between countries, businesses and markets for 125 years – This one has been our strongest yet.
AHK Innovation Night Finale
The Xceleration Days were off to a flying start on December 3rd, when hundreds of innovation enthusiasts from Germany and Greater China gathered at Design Society Shenzhen for the AHK Innovation Night Finale.
Dr. Stephan Woellenstein, Chair of the German Chamber of Commerce in China and CEO of Volkswagen Group China, gave the opening speech to a sold-out crowd, followed by a vivid reverse pitching competition with finalists from Beijing, Shanghai and the Greater Bay Area.
The Most Ambitious Sino-German Business Event of 2019
The main program of the Xceleration Days started on Wednesday morning, December 4th. Maximilian Butek, Chief Representative of AHK Greater China in Guangzhou, welcomed well over 800 participants from Germany and Greater China to the business conference and gave preview of the high-quality program ahead.
The introduction was followed by opening remarks from distinguished Guests of Honour Dr. Stephan Woellenstein, Dr. Clemens von Goetze, Ambassador of Germany to China, Mr. Lixin Wang, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen, Dr. Till Backhaus, Minister for Agriculture & Environment of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and Dr. Volker Treier, Member of the Board of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK).
Keynote speeches were delivered by Werner Steinmueller, Vice Chair of the Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business (APA) and Member of the Management Board of Deutsche Bank, and Dr. Jianhua Hu, Director of China Merchants Group.
Following the top-class opening session, participants had the opportunity to choose from five parallel tracks of interactive project sessions on five focus industries: Manufacturing, AI, Mobility, Healthcare, Greentech. In total, 28 informative sessions on concrete topics and projects were held within 24 hours at the Xceleration Days – a high-density business event like no other.
Beyond Business
Far more than just another business conference, the Xceleration Days also included talk formats that offered participants a fresh perspective beyond the world of business. The closing session featured a thought-provoking discussion with special guests Katrin Goering-Eckardt and Oliver Krischer, Members of the Green Party group in the German Bundestag. The talk covered a range of current political and economic topics including e-mobility, renewable energy, China’s role in battling climate change.
As a final highlight, David Wang, Chief Representative of the Berlin Office of Huawei, took part in an exclusive TALK@AHK to discuss current controversies surrounding the roll-out of 5G technology in Germany, IP and data protection, as well as the US-China trade dispute.
With hundreds of Sino-German business stakeholders engaging in dozens of in-depth discussion formats over the course of three days, the first edition of the Greater China Xceleration Days certainly lived up to their name.
