Visa Information for the Members of the German Chamber of Commerce in North China
As a result of the Sino-German Governmental Consultations which were held in Berlin on 10th of October 2014, both governments have agreed to facilitate mutual people-to-people exchanges by simplifying the visa process. China will actively support Germany in its plans to extend its visa service to inner-land China by setting up more visa application centers.
It is the common goal of both governments to shorten the visa process for short stay visas to 48 hours in future. Germany and China are willing to grant visa facilitations to frequent business travelers and issue more often long-term multiple-entry visas. The works on the implementation of this agreement have already begun.
Dear valued Members,
From the 1st of August (2014) Chinese applicants for business and visitor visas, as well as visas to attend cultural and sporting events in Germany will NOT be required to submit flight or hotel booking information. These documents will only be required for tourist visas, as well as travelers seeking medical treatment and transit trips.
Dear valued Members,
From January 1, 2014 the Visa Service Fee of the German Chamber will be raised to 220 RMB per Visa application.
Notice: New Simplified Visa Procedure
All employees of member companies of the German Chamber of Commerce, who are traveling to Germany for business purposes, can participate in the new visa procedure at our visa office and benefit from the simplified document list if you have received either:
- 1 Schengen 1-year or multi-year visa issued by a German visa section or
- 2 single short-term Schengen visa issued by a German visa section
for business purposes in the past 2 years prior to the application.
If you meet one of these criteria, the following documents are not required for your visa application:
- Proof of personal financial situation
- tickets and hotel reservation
In addition to the signed claration, all other documents still have to be provided.
If the visa application is filed on short notice without complying with the general visa processing time of 5 business days, it is likely that it might result in a failure of the application. A special treatment for urgent applications is not possible.
The passport cannot be returned to the applicant during the 5 day application process, because of the very high administrative input. An early return of the passport will result in revocation of the whole visa application.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Simplified Visa Submission
We are pleased to announce that starting as of 15st October 2012, the German Chamber of Commerce North China will receive your employees’ Business Visa applications without the requirement of a personal interview. The applicants will be able to submit their applications via an appointed courier, your driver or, if they wish to do so, in person. Kindly note that a personal interview may, however, still be required by the German Embassy in Beijing on a case-by-case basis.
Regarding the place of submission, nothing changes for your employees - you will continue to be able to submit your visa applications with us at
Landmark Tower 2, Unit 0830, 8 North Dongsanhuan Road, Chaoyang District, 100004 Beijing, China
In a parallel development, Germany has decided to outsource all visa applications in the People’s Republic of China to an external service company. In consequence we will no longer be able to receive visa applications from applicants who are not employees of our Member companies as from 11th of October 2012.
The advantages for our Members when submitting their applications at the German Chamber of Commerce are as follows:
- No appointment necessary: As in the past, the visa applicants will not be required to make an appointment beforehand. They or the courier can come to our office at any time during our opening hours (Monday to Friday: 9.30-11.30 and 14.00-17.00)
- Their applications will be handled and forwarded to the German Embassy within one working day
- The application is made under a “bona fide” process which reflects the increased trust which is shown to the employees of our Member companies.
Please forward this information to your HR or administration staff who handles visa applications in your company. Further details will be circulated and published on the website of the German Embassy and the German Chamber in due course.
We are looking forward to continuing our successful visa cooperation with all Members of the German Chamber of Commerce in North China in the years ahead.
