With rising personnel costs, weak export growth as well as increasing competition from South-East Asia, Chinese manufacturing is facing the challenge of restructuring and reform.

To address these issues, companies are heavily investing in new production technology and automation. Supporting this transformation, the Chinese State Council announced the “Made in China 2025” action-plan to further digitize and connect processes in the Chinese manufacturing industry. With their experience and know-how, German companies are a favored cooperation partner in the process.

Fujian Province is one of the traditional production hubs along the coast. Fuzhou, the provincial capital of Fujian, is at the center of the “Maritime Silk Road”-initiative and posted an above-national average economic growth of 8.5% in 2016. Being home to Daimler, Siemens and the like, it is a particularly attractive spot for German companies interested in engaging in cooperation’s as part of “Made in China 2025”.
