Update: AQSIQ Regulation on Food Import Certification - Deadline delayed by two years

2017年10月12日 AHK China - News-Hauptkategorie, Press Release

A new regulation, issued to the WTO on June 19th, 2017, by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the P.R.C. (AQSIQ) requiring foreign food imports to be certified by national-level authorities from the export country, has been delayed by two years, following a lobbying effort by the European Union and other World Trade Organisation (WTO) members.

On September 25th, China submitted a supplemental notification to the WTO, granting transitional period of two years for the implementation of the new import certification requirement. According to the notification, the new rule will take effect on September 30th, 2019.

Other than delaying the implementation date, no changes to the proposed rules have been made public. Negotiations concerning implementation of the rules will continue and the Delegations of German Industry & Commerce will keep you updated on the issue.
