With the election of representatives for the term of 2012 to 2014, the German Chamber of Commerce in China sets course for further development. The members elected three new boards in the regional chapters of North China, Shanghai and South- & Southwest China.
Sound Sino-German expertise
With Mr. Ulrich Walker, CEO of Daimler Northeast Asia and Mr. Titus von dem Bongart, Head of Greater China, Korea, ASEAN with Ernst & Young in China, two proven China experts have been reelected as Chairmen in North China and Shanghai. They are joined by the new Chairman of the South and Southwest China chapter, Mr. Stefan Rosenbohm, Technical Director of Shenzhen Giesecke & Devrient Currency Automation Systems who has a developed China background as well. Mr. Rosenbohm is succeeding Mr. Holger Sindemann who has taken on a new task in Germany. In general the election showed confidence in the former composition of the boards and there have only been minor changes among its members. With its new mandates the boards will continue to encourage the development of economic cooperation between China and Germany as well as further facilitate cooperation between government bodies and German business in China.
Regional expansion
Over the next two years, the boards will also address new aspects of Sino-German business. Today, more and more member companies are expanding into Chinas provinces. “In order to assist German firms successfully integrating into the local business environment, the German Chamber will strengthen its network and extend its support into these regions,” says Mr. Rosenbohm.
Always up to date
At the same time the business environment is changing. With ongoing social & economic development China’s legal and investment landscape becomes more and more diversified. The German chamber will ensure that its member companies are always up to date and further improve and intensify its communication tools to inform about current developments.
Ensuring quality business support
The German business community itself is also growing continuously. Since 2006 the membership of the chamber has grown by more than 700 members to about 2.050 members today. “Looking at the current bilateral relations between Germany and China it is very likely that more German companies will come to China in the future,” says Mr. von dem Bongart. “This will add up to the large variety we already have among our members. It will be an important task for us to keep up with the existing quality of relationships and business support.”
